Having holidayed in this part of Wales many times over the years, in 2006 we moved to the picturesque town of Dolgellau, which nestles within the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, North Wales.
Our aim was to buy a rural property with the potential to provide family holiday accommodation. The first property we viewed was Tal y Waen, which had been unoccupied for the previous 3 years! We kept coming back to view it time and again, until eventually we were in a position to complete the purchase - hurrah!
OUR GUESTS
We have visitors from far and wide and many return guests. Here we are with Brian Fernandes from East London, who returned to stay with us, bringing his parents for their first visit to Wales. Margaret & Tony remarked that the beautiful scenery was reminiscent of their native Goa!

Not a bad ‘driveway’!
PLANTING... AN ONGOING PROJECT
As any keen gardener will attest, gardening never ends! When we first arrived there were no flowers, however once the cottages were renovated and between many other chores, we have been busy planting! We’ve added colour to the cottages and around our house, we’ve tamed the grass areas from their original bracken and added paths, we’ve cleared ditches and built hedges to hold back stray sheep and provide a secure enclosure behind the cottages.
